My dream, was you were near
My life, was as I feared
My eyes, were shedding tears
I was alone
Your name, under my breath
Your love, after you left
Your heart, within my chest
Yearning takes flight
Through walls, a gentle breeze
Through frost, and swaying trees
Through storms, over the seas
This longing soars
Past spite, of hateful men
Past hell, if you descend
Past pain, with souls to mend
Spirits rejoin.

In Flight
While separate and alone
The inner person groans
By keeping love in sight
Two spirits take to flight
If ours would ever cease
I'd find no inner peace
A void a mile wide
My heart would keep inside
That's where I'll always stand
Can't change the inner man
The inner person groans
By keeping love in sight
Two spirits take to flight
If ours would ever cease
I'd find no inner peace
A void a mile wide
My heart would keep inside
That's where I'll always stand
Can't change the inner man

Abode
You traveled through my heart
and settled in my head.
That's how it all began.
You're in my thoughts again.
When feelings are expressed
and no one seems to care.
I know you'll understand.
You're in my thoughts again.
At night when silence reigns.
You're sleeping far away.
Yet still my closest friend.
You're in my thoughts again.
and settled in my head.
That's how it all began.
You're in my thoughts again.
When feelings are expressed
and no one seems to care.
I know you'll understand.
You're in my thoughts again.
At night when silence reigns.
You're sleeping far away.
Yet still my closest friend.
You're in my thoughts again.

Wait and Dream
A moonlit night
Behind a tree shadow
The seeker unseen
One with the dark
Undiscovered
Morning with songbirds
Shake off the dew
Mind full of new words
The sky full of new colors
A day full of new moments
The afternoon sun
Short shadows and brightness
Dust devils, slow breezes
Sing a pleasant song
Peace and calm
Even tide change
Bright colors for gray
At rest with the world
Waiting for stars
Dreaming of love

My Rebellion
We wish to redress the past
Make future
joys that will last
Try so hard
to hold fast
We are prisoners of
time
Enjoyment
skips away
Sorrow
demands to stay
Life should
always be play
Yet we are
constrained
To be serene
not mundane
Excited without noisy strain
Youth cannot
be retained
We must age to find new
I am a
prisoner of time
My heart,
soul and mind
This is my
rebellion defined
Savor
each moment

Halloween fun
As fall resists the wintery scene.
Ghouls emerge for Halloween.
Tonight its vogue to wear one's fears.
And costumed creatures appear.
Not doomed to shadows anymore.
Ghosts float up to every door.
Heroes, stars, grotesque undead.
The candy monster will be fed.
Black cats arch, witches fly.
Pass out fruit you' ll hear them sigh.
An artful crowd in front of homes.
When time is up, the goblins groan.
This old man could have gone.
And danced across his neighbors lawn.
But I'll open doors and smile wide.
At emboldened kids and mothers pride

The Noble Cause
Life moves on in a hurry
Driven by cares, full of worry
Demands, tasks, mindless flurry
Eyes fixed far away.
Beauty nearby to admire
Yet so many things to acquire
Items call out for a buyer
All Prone to decay
Sail across every ocean
While Heart, mind and emotion
Are treasures so thrilling to open
The greatest frontier.
The noblest cause of a man
Of more worth than anyone's plan
To admire, to love, understand
To rembember
Making Hay
Boyish summer dreams can stay
The grass is high, we’re making hay
Jeans, tee shirts and scratchy arms.
The cows want us to fill their barns.
Rabbits flee and butterflies
The mower soon is passing by
Rake the rows to dry the grass
Hoping every storm will pass
Kerchunk a clang, a spin, a ping
I think the bailer needs more string
Stack them right, we’re adding tiers
The wagon tips, the driver fears
A towering load, the stackers pride
I hope it all can make the ride.
We made the barn, triumph for some
The inside work has just begun
A dusty haze, a chain, a bail
We must keep up, we cannot fail
We reach the roof and leave a space
At night we climb and make a place
A hundred years of offspring lay
Upon this mow and dreamed away
Admiring stars through the port
Above the pile, we built a fort
Rounded bales stuck with a spear
Stout young boys no longer fear
No one sleeping near the roof
Storing dust, the pigeons roost
An eerie calm with bands of light
This empty space isn't right
Fresh cut grass, I reminisce
Those summer days that now are missed
No sleep so sweet, no sleep so deep
When barns are full of winter’s keep
