The date was like a dream 

Her eyes were so serene 

In the end the point was missed

He thought he'd make it up

Making Sense

It couldn't be love 

So why is my heart racing?

It's true that you look good

But that's infatuation

My heart is always in suspense 

Will it ever make sense?

I always think of you

Call it live imagination 

Time should make it fade 

But it's here for the duration

It is enough to make my head explode

My mind has gone rogue. 

 

More than Show

True love is a wild beast

Mere mortals try to tame

Those who try to cage it

Are only playing games

It seems a contradiction

But love is more than show

Before it causes hurt 

True lovers let it go

A heart may break in pieces

With longings unfulfilled

But happy smiling faces

Beat any banal thrill

Its essence never leaves 

Hope is always there

True love never wanes

For those who really care 

It cannot be explained 

And will never be alone

Wild love once discovered 

Makes adventures of its own.  

Words

The voice inside of us

Has so much to say

But it has to be filtered

So it doesn't offend 

Go ahead and be honest

be rash and blurt it out

You will find it doesn't work 

Despite what they champion

Tactfully, using grace

We must filter our thoughts 

Nothing unusual about it

It's An acquired skill

There is that rare person

Who takes no offense

To anything said

But savors it all

Each word as a precious jewel

Every thought as a diamond  

Words, though hard and sharp

Are beautiful to examine

A Perfect Place

To seek the perfect place

To find the perfect person

To reach the perfect goals

I had the perfect plan

But the home needed repair

People do what they want

Achievements lead to nought

Plans start over 

The senses I depend on

Slowly leave me too

Time has its own way

Regardless how I fight

there's still a burning hope

Of something reliable

But can I be worthy

I make a mess of rules 

I know inside there is a place 

That doesn't see decay

When my mind is still

It calls to my soul

The perfect home exists

And the perfect person lives

Satisfaction rules perfect hearts

And nothing is left to be done

How can our imperfect hearts

Inherit such a land

We break so many rules

And hurt so many people

We would have to be redeemed

And it would take a perfect person

To give such satisfaction

In an eternal land of forgiveness

Once I am forgiven

I'll lose the sense of futility 

I can cease striving 

For something that isn't real

Joy can be my home

My lifelong companion  

The object of my goals

That doesn't dissapiont

Then I will build while I can

Love unconditionally

Look forward to experiences

And savor what is given me 

Living my life in expectation

as one who is forgiven

But making my plans 

As one who still has time. 

Having It All

We sought to have it all

Seeking to achieve

They claimed that there was joy

Our passions giving leave

My friends looked so proud

When promoted in their realms

But our ships were being driven

Expectations at the helm

Above their cheery smiles

A pair of weary eyes

Trying to appease 

A fabricated drive

Far better than a goal

This world can present

Is knowing someone's heart

And feelings that were meant

Same old Ways

It's a waste of my time to get you outa my mind

You end up where I left you

Drank a few beers, my mind was clear

But you're right back there again 

Take long walks, write poetry 

Work all day, Watch TV

What's a man gotta do 

To get somewhere new

Cause the scene in my head 

Won't  change

I could go insane and dull my brain

But I'd just babble about you

Shoot for the stars but I won't get far

Till I'm thinking bout you again

Jump out a window, wander at night

Hide in the woods, start a fight
