Sunbeam

In the morning light
To a smile I woke
A playful sunbeam
And she whispered spring

My skin felt warm
On the place she danced
She then kissed my cheek
And I saw the beach

This delightful touch
Made my senses swoon
In a summer breeze
And we both were pleased

A Ray of Light

When rays of light shine around the edges
I want to crash the door
Then I step back embarrassed at the damage
My foolish passions wreck
But I do learn from my mistakes
Albeit slowly
Every bright ray should be savored for what it represents
diamond needs but a small portion of light to be beautiful.

The Promise

The fear we sometimes get
Is someone might forget
Let's settle it right now
And make this simple vow

promise you one thing
Within my memories
You will always live
If it's all that we can give

So I leave this song for you
It has a special tune
Just hum it to yourself
When you're feeling overwhelmed

The greatest gift we give
Is to let each other live
With a heart that's full of peace
Enjoy the gentle breeze

I'm reminded constantly
By the birds when they sing
And the stars the way they shine
You and I are fine

A few words

Many of these poems are actually lyrics. I don't just get words when inspired but also get music. So recently I have applied time to music theory to better figure these things out. It is awesome to express what I hear. I have been making use of my piano too. Some is being written to sheet music to preserve what comes out. With recording programs and everything involved, it is a lot of fun but takes up a ton of time, and is very slow since I am an amateur.

Lately I have been listening to Americana ballads. I change genres all the time. Sometimes my poems reflect it. I also have dozens of incomplete ones I keep to myself. So don't think I am neglecting this blog if I take a little time between... Life is good.

The plan is to eventually publish a few songs for the fun of it. The process is a long one from start to finish. I already have poems in book form and should add a few more to publish them too.

The Expert

You ask how to forget someone
So if you'd like to hear
Just pull up that old chair
And pour yourself a beer

You can say that I'm an expert
I can help if you are green
There's a lot of ground to cover
If you want change your scene

Some say to use your humor
You can call it all a joke
A person only laughs so long
Till the tears begin to choke

You could fill your time with projects
A mind needs occupied
But watch those little pauses
When your thoughts begin to slide

Maybe travel to earths corners
Distance is the key
Fill your sight with newness
Try to erase the memories

Mornings can be the toughest
Especially when you dream
Just rise a little early
Threre are always things to clean

The list goes on forever
There's not a single answer here
So let's enjoy a small reprieve
While we sit and drink our beer

Aware

Should I write a doleful song?
Are conclusions all forgone?
My soul was made aware
As our time was fondly shared
I've found someone who knows
How I look with heart exposed
So when your heart is sad
The good seems less than bad
Look at what you've given me
And I will hold on patiently
Let good thoughts become yours
Through the trials and through the wars
And I hope in some way too
I can do the same for you

What If

Two happy souls lived at what is
On the street of whatever will be
They discovered whatever happened
Moved closer and strained to see
There they found what could have been
Yet most of the town was too old
The place called what if was much newer
But the weather soon became cold
Now they're back in their homes at whatever is
While their minds still reminisce
On the road to whatever happens
They know there's a place called what if

Difficulties

In difficulty one approach is to use humor's eyes
Though choices are tough there are still absurdities
We can choose to feel buried or with humor rise
Yet the risk with written words is that it can seem cruel
Even when the heart is far from cruelties grasp
Too many things have meanings that are dual.
But those who know each other's hearts
eventually figure it out.
