They all stood and stared

Tough men raged at me 

But paused

At my calm demeanor

Thoughts and words bring anxiety

One can only care and not forget

And be silent

To give room for love

The Journey

Life starts us on a journey

With a sachet full of dreams

We give them out like candy 

A happy song to sing

Will anyone embrace them? 

With love the priceless gift 

In hope our arms extended 

We are all alike in this 

Some dreams are laid aside

And time can be a thief 

He takes his pay in toil

To shatter our belief

But oh, the love collected 

Each moment it is found

Lives within our hearts

The memories keep us bound

More than a View

Sometimes rather than viewing sunrises, 

I like to feel them 

With my eyes closed there's this certain glow that can be felt

When my mind has been racing in the darkness 

It is a feeling of hope and a new start 

Second guessing and thoughts of the past 

are tapped on the shoulder and told to move along

The birds and starting cars remind me 

others are doing the same

There is a certain sadness that my thoughts must close 

so my focus can turn to the new day at hand  

It can bring excitement if I let it

And I think I will
