How Truth Feels

Some say truth hurts
But I beg to differ
It is a gentle knock at the door
What hurts is spite
What hurts is hatred
What hurts is pride
Some take truth and swing it
like a flail for aggression
Or a shield for insecurities
Truth always has our best at heart
Listen to the still small voice
And be gentle with yourself
Give consideration to others
And the truth will feel good..

At the Stoplight

sitting behind her
                   at a stoplight
I see her eyes
framed in a rear view mirror
                  leaning left
her mouth and nose
                 are beautifully formed
for a second
                 a smile
so I grin back
                is that smile for me?
it feels good to bring a smile
               to a mouth so deserving
though I am not visible
                my ego will savor
eyes I cannot gaze into
a smile not mine
               my heart says
                                  if only
Possibilities spark my ignition
we both drive away and I feel better
               For no apparent reason
