Night and Day

The bright sun slipped in and out of hiding
Behind racing clouds, its movement unnoticed
Day spent, the master of time looked tired
Yet he scattered his rays making a beautiful show
Giving evening spark to romantic dreams.

In his absence the world will draw closer
Huddled together unseen yet very much alive
Using senses that remain with no need of light
A slow world of repose patiently waits for dawn
Silence fills the void as though connected to the darkness
Creation holds its breath, knowing the sun will be faithful

A flash, ever so slight excites the songbirds
The sun reaches across the sky with glowing fingers
Pulling himself upward while spilling brilliant colors.
From this start, life skips merrily on its way
His warmth and light delighting the senses
While in the distance, others wait for his glorious return
