Three Beasts

While walking through the deep
I found them fast asleep
A docent took my arm
Said they mean no harm
You see these forms of love
They're just looking for a home
There were within my sight
Three Beasts of pure delight

Domesticated love is sought by one and all
Mothers, Dads, and siblings
catch you when you fall
It is strong and good,
And seek we should
The ultimate need
On this we all agree
It moves slow and easy
Self-sacrifice is its fate
Always there and never late

Object love however, is active all the time
People, things and scenes,
The focus of the mind
First it flirts
Then makes you work
And when it's acquired
At once will snuff the fire
Despised by some
It must pursue
Needing something new

Crazy love is the most beautiful to behold
The least understood yet we seek it like gold
This rare find
Can take your mind
So intense you lose your care
You will follow it anywhere
The strong might resist
As soon as you think it's tame
It'll overtake again.

Don't wake that one, my docent said
It is relentless
I smiled and thanked him for the warning
As something followed us in the shadows
