The Through familiar fields I walked
Staying where I ought
Flowers all in bloom
An intoxicating swoon
A path caught my eye
A place I hadn't tried
Enticing yet unknown
Til then I hadn't roamed
It wouldn't leave my mind
What lies beyond the pines?
My world became too small
So I had to risk it all
I soon became so lost
A friend, our paths did cross
We had both strayed from our fields
Became each other's shield
We helped each other home
The path now overgrown
Our fields are pleasant still
But we can't forget the thrill.
Though briars and thistles guard
Staying away is hard
As the path becomes obscure
We hope someone appears
