Inside the Shell
I look at art
And feel the passion
A poem always in my chest
I hold them close
They must be rationed
My every thought
Must be addressed
A void I fear
Dissolves my passions
Its best to hide so I can feel
This shell protects
My soul from crashing
Yet there's so much
To be revealed
Shelter this heart
when it is breaking
Ease this mind
and its fears
Hold this hand
while it is shaking
When I cry
Will there be tears?
And feel the passion
A poem always in my chest
I hold them close
They must be rationed
My every thought
Must be addressed
A void I fear
Dissolves my passions
Its best to hide so I can feel
This shell protects
My soul from crashing
Yet there's so much
To be revealed
Shelter this heart
when it is breaking
Ease this mind
and its fears
Hold this hand
while it is shaking
When I cry
Will there be tears?

Wormhole
Life at middle age is like a wormhole
So much like a vivid dream from my childhood
People lose sight of each other
While time spins around them
Images and flashes and moments spin by
And they eventually become thankful for solid ground
Where they can stand after years of time have passed
They look for answers on the other side
For all the moments lost
Yet there remains a respect and fear
For things that can pull them back again
Into the uncontrolled spin
Of a wormhole

The Hidden Shore
We all make mistakes
And they weigh us down
We all play the fool
Stumble to the ground
Let me take your hand
To a hidden shore
Where there is no price
Nothing to die for
Your heart is ever pure
Learn the only truth
All my eyes can see
Is the inner you
And you matter
More than any rule
Shout this to the crowd
Whisper it in your room
Let the critics cry
Let the prudent pay
Let the hateful cringe
And the gossips say
Let them see themselves
Mirrors never lie
When we face the truth
Every word will die
You matter
More than any rule
Shout this to the crowd
Whisper it in your room
And they weigh us down
We all play the fool
Stumble to the ground
Let me take your hand
To a hidden shore
Where there is no price
Nothing to die for

Impressions
Words cross the air to be heard
Two exchange more than mere words
Irrevocable love crosses through space
Making impressions time won't erase
Though hearts seek to find their own peace
What's impressed on a heart isn't released
The store of what's given and received
Begs to be heard and believed
Though reason tries its best to assuage
Actors join in on the stage
A person begins to feel
Impressions are all that are real

Media and Motives
This time I did a comparison and contrast between ancient artifacts. I hope you enjoy it. The study is fascinating and even with recent art gaining understanding concerning the media and the motives people put into their art makes viewing much more enjoyable.

If I Could Write
If I could write a song
to make it all okay
We'd smile again
Joke about friends
The evening would end
With little left to say
We would sit in the quiet
and stare at the stars
Rest underneath
Our hearts at peace
No one to please
Love wouldn't be so far
If I could write a book
to make it all okay
A fairy tale starts
Two people embark
Never to part
Together fly away
We would soar above the clouds
And look out at the sky
The view would be grand
We're holding hands
Won't care to land
Forget the word goodby
to make it all okay
We'd smile again
Joke about friends
The evening would end
With little left to say
We would sit in the quiet
and stare at the stars
Rest underneath
Our hearts at peace
No one to please
Love wouldn't be so far
If I could write a book

Two people embark
Never to part
Together fly away
We would soar above the clouds
And look out at the sky
The view would be grand
We're holding hands
Won't care to land
Forget the word goodby

The Arts
The thing about the arts, be it poetry, music or visual is that they reach deep into a place in our inner being. The deep passions felt in them are expressed with more honesty than our superficial day to day interactions. The strength of honest passion brings a certain pleasure but when contrasted to day to day realities the desire to be there continually can cause depression. It takes a certain strength to step in and out and live in normality with zeal after the visit. Creating and expressing are more taxing than simply reacting. But the depth is worth it. An artist does best when he chooses not to abandon passion out of fear anymore. Yet at the same time he will respect boundaries that have been drawn.
Formal Elements
Art is similar to poetry. I have been taking a course on art and learning its formal elements.

Why?
I don't get it
How can I be loved so profoundly?
I did not earn it
It's not that I'm unlovable
I am passionate
And caring
But why want me?
I fumble love
And don't give what it is due
Yet it still pursues me somehow
I am thankful
Yet my heart is confused
Why would someone love me?
I pretend it's my due
When others give it freely
I need it desperately
But don't deserve it
My heart says
Why me?

Avoidance
It's the sweetest confusion
A pleasurable pain
I should avoid it
But I'm back here again
I packaged it up
In neat little words
Stored on a shelf
And called it absurd
It finds a way back
Ignores my restraint
Acts like a muse
Mocks my complaint

Solutions
What can a person do when love gives no respite?
When the heart skips a beat for fear it's out of sight
Where can love be sent so it doesn't wander back?
And cause the soul to tremble, with anxiety attacks
Can it up in jars and make a good preserve
Then open up the can after a few years
Put it in a trunk, stow it on a ship
Give a kiss goodby and send it on a trip
Put it in a rocket and send it to the moon
Send it on a light beam to a star you like to view
Every place love goes is made better I am sure
It's just really tough when the person isn't here

Little Bird
I'm so thankful little bird that you're okay
Though I'm sad you had to fly away
I see you sitting on the branches with your friends
I'm glad your broken wing is on the mend
I still can hear your songs inside my head
You are welcome any time to sing again
If you're ever lonely or in need
Just fly up to my place and have some seed
If I had two wings
The songs we could sing
In the sun's golden hues
We'll share an awesome view
If I had two wings
The songs we could sing
In the sun's golden hues
We'll share an awesome view

A Shoe Story
A pair of shoes sits on the table at a baby shower
Everyone is anticipating what the person will be like who fills them.
Too soon another pair appears on the feet of a stumbling toddler
Then the child tries daddy's shoes and clunks around the room
Through out life these shoes will be hard ones to fill
School shoes park by the door in the summertime
Children are too busy filling days with laughter to fill shoes
Sports shoes are fitted and with them comes responsibility
Bare feet become a thing of the past.
Feet are now used for dancing, cheering and playing
This means many kinds of shoes of different shapes and colors
High heels and work boots now wait in the closet to be filled with feet
Comfortable shoes make it easier to carry children.
But grandpa's shoes are so out of style!
Before long they sit idle as he looks at his feet lying in bed
The grandchildren stand on tip toes in their busy shoes to plant a kiss
So goes another generation of shoes

Lousy Liars
They were lousy liars
That truth was plain to see
How do you break the rules
When you never could deceive
How can there be stealth
When you cherish honesty
They never could keep secrets
That's how it started anyways
Keeping feelings to ourselves
Is the way we should behave
Spontaneous attraction
Was the price they had to pay
This will never change
They're committed to the truth
Some things are good to know
When the curtain is removed
There's a joy and yet a pain
When lying's not for you

Firefly
I met a firefly one night
We soared to the greatest heights
It brushed my cheek
And settled on a blade of grass
I put it in a jar on a twig
This didn't feel right so I removed the lid
It was used to jar living
And chose to stay inside
Soon in the field I was playing again
With dozens of fireflies around my head
This time I'd give none a glance
But hurried off to bed

Proud
I remember way back when
Children played and men were men
When a mom stayed home it wasn't sin
We worked through things that were difficult
If you failed at something it was your own damn fault
We didn't back down, we were full of salt
A tough man knew to endure offense
And rise above without getting tense
People then had more sense
It was no ones business how you voted
Kept your word and stayed devoted
Didn't need criticism candy coated
No one hid behind computer screens
We spoke direct without fake ID's
Unashamed, no image preened
I'm proud to be a man from then
When I mess things up I make amends
When it comes to love, I don't pretend

The Scene
Sometimes I'm overwhelmed
It makes my legs feel weak
I know you're doing well
Life is better without me
Though it doesn't make much sense
My thoughts just go this way
I'm so glad that you are well
Yet they still somehow stray
The thoughts within myself
What can be done differently
To kept ourselves as friends
Where everyone can breathe
So I replay that old tape
And rehearse the scenes again
Where we share each other's smile
And we'd always be close friends

Places in my Mind
There are places in my mind
Where I walk through dusty rooms
I should close the doors
But my heart cannot bear it
Above the doors are signs
No entry and lost causes
It is hard to obey them
To abandon what is cherished
I sit on the dusty couch
To dream of a vibrance once there
Though it may not be healthy
It is nonetheless a part of me
The room is full of promises
Stuffed into drawers
Though dusty and fragile
They haven't lost their meaning
There will always be a path inside
My footprints in the dusty floor
This doorknob will not see rust
There will be no last visit
The shades are drawn
There are pressing things to do
I must leave for now
And take the light with me

Fingertips
Passion at my fingertips
The piano and guitar
My keyboard types the words
Maybe it'll be heard
After I send it out
I hope a face lights up
Making it all worthwhile
I crave those smiles
So will write, dream and play
In case someone hears
Maybe I'm delusional
At least it's my will
Out they go into the night
So now they have a place
Pathetic as it may seem
It's a way to be free

Straight and Tall
I built a life with hardened brick
My hopes and dreams made them stick
This barricade should give relief
From wolves that blow and every thief
My soul and I play behind
We paint graffiti on our side
These works of art are memories
Emotions only I can see
Many know the outside wall
Where I'm straight and tall
Occasionally a close friend comes
Steps behind and brings the sun
My heart alas thinks we are free
To display new art for all to see
But then a brick comes flying through
For safety's sake our brushes move
What found its way from hand to stone
Must now endure alone
But all can see the outside wall
Where I'm straight and tall

Heart and Soul
I look upon this changing land
And think about the dreams of man
They toil to earn a piece of ground
To the land their hearts are bound
They raise their families and then
The ground returns to where it's been
All that's left are ghosts and trees
Whispering winds and rustling leaves
I feel it too in iron beams
They built it all to fill their dreams
Suffered cold for those they loved
Their testiment towers above
I've had my dreams and seen them pass
Built my homes and planted grass
The day will come when I'll be gone
And leave my love within these songs
Heart and soul is all that lasts
Time moves on much too fast
The things we build will see decay
We plant our love and hope it stays

Light and Dark
Through the rocks and forest
Light and dark mingle together
Primordial partners in a dance
Sunlight playfully tumbles through the leaves
Splashing color on everything it touches
Darkness, once leading, steps aside
And comes back as larger than life silhouettes
The scene becomes indescribable through water.
Waves shower shimmering crystals into the air
Light remnants pass the water's surface
Illuminating rocks and fish underneath
Darkness still hides around the rock edges
Waiting to partner with shy fish
Why confine this celebration to one mind?
She must share through the strokes of her brush.
She must share through the strokes of her brush.

Echoes on the Road
The echo of voices I hear
As I walk on this old dirt road
My best friend and I
The mystery of girls
I would sing country songs
He would play an air trumpet
Jazz band practice
I had to sing a rock song
So he could laugh at my country twist
At least I tried
I was no Led Zeppelin or Elvis
Yet I knew most songs
We would steal cigars
And stop at the bakery
For bismarks from beautiful girls
Ten miles round trip on foot was
Nothing for a couple of adolescents
We had won the lotto of time
And were burning through hours
His time ran out a few years ago
But I still smile at our antics
And the secrets we found out
That aren't so secret now
What an exciting time
Strange how those years
Press so hard on one's memory
And I feel like the same person
While everything else has changed
As I walk down that old road

The Distance
They met in the sunrise
When hearts first see
New passions demanding
Hoping to please
Their innocence wrestled
With the need to explore
The future before them
Few tools for the war
He thought it took honor
She just wanted admired
To remove the restraints
That childhood required
Ideals are confusing
Desires are the same
They knew it was love
But just couldn't explain
Time tries to teach us
Through this haze of existence
Discoveries come
And love will travel the distance

What are memories?
We are in a constant pursuit of making good memories. What is a memory? The original and natural way to preserve them is by recording them in our minds. An experience passes while our mind picks up the sensory information such as sight and sound as they pass. Our feelings at that time are also recorded. We use words as markers for our feelings as a way to produce a river of expression flowing from our minds into the present moments.
It is claimed that we should live in the present and leave the past behind when technically there isn't a present. Time rolls on past like a train and we only catch glimpses of moments as they pass by. It may sound strange to say it, but to say we are living in the present, we can only be referring to the recent past. Having a good present is the act of guiding the passing of time to certain good outcomes we enjoy as it slips by.
Our mind's responses to our body's senses are really the good we are seeking. Memories are simply a way to bring those the feelings of awe and inspiration back. The present consists of the most immediate and fresh memories of immediate responses.
Cameras and videos can record a portion of light reflections during immediate moments, so in addition to the dim picture our mind produces of a memory, we have a vivid color picture of the memory to run through our sight and hearing again. We want to get the good feelings back from that moment again and again. As the current moment slips by, through media, we can insert these past moments into it again and again.
With poetry and art, a person can put more of these feelings into images of words and paintings for people to view. Theaters give ways to enact what a playwright or a writer put in words to do invoke certain feelings. Sight and sound are combined and steered to produce the feelings the particular writer wanted produced. Our own videos exist to bring back feelings we had when enjoying our friends and family. Paintings can preserve the feelings of an artist in an image. With poetry, the river of words that describe how we feel are preserved to make those passions available to enjoy in the present any time someone reads them.

Questions
Did I choose love
Did it choose me
Am I a prisoner
Am I free
Is this pleasure
Or lack of pain
Is it real
Is it feigned
Do I treat it well
Or do I fail
Will it lose
Can it prevail
I'll keep it close
Despite my fears
Stand in awe
While love is here

Knowledge
I wish to know
Your childhood dreams
Memories held dear
What made you sad
Who you want to be
Your favorite haunts
Your best experiences
People you miss
The things you regret
Your proudest moments
I wish to know
What gives you pleasure
The things you enjoy
The things you hate
The smallest things
I want to hear
Your fondest memories
Every interest
The things you avoid
Things that inspire
Every idiosyncrasy
I wish to know
If time would allow
If duty would step aside
I wish to know
You.
I wish to share
Smile about differences
Be amazed at commonalities
Conquer fears
Give each other hope
Gaze at the clouds
Attack life together
Listen to crickets
Admire the flames
I wish to share
Us

Eyes Closed
He says I love you in the dark
It helps to ease his aching heart
Though he knows it's for the best
His heart won't rest
He says I love you in the dark
She wonders if he feels the same
Though they must resist the flame
She feels the words he says each night
Hopes he's alright
She wonders if he feels the same
They'll have each other in their sight
When their eyes are closed tonight
And it gives them pleasant dreams
Makes them serine
He says I love you in the dark

Three Beasts
While walking through the deep
I found them fast asleep
A docent took my arm
Said they mean no harm
You see these forms of love
They're just looking for a home
There were within my sight
Three Beasts of pure delight
Domesticated love is sought by one and all
Mothers, Dads, and siblings
catch you when you fall
It is strong and good,
And seek we should
The ultimate need
On this we all agree
It moves slow and easy
Self-sacrifice is its fate
Always there and never late
Object love however, is active all the time
People, things and scenes,
The focus of the mind
First it flirts
Then makes you work
And when it's acquired
At once will snuff the fire
Despised by some
It must pursue
Needing something new
Crazy love is the most beautiful to behold
The least understood yet we seek it like gold
This rare find
Can take your mind
So intense you lose your care
You will follow it anywhere
The strong might resist
As soon as you think it's tame
It'll overtake again.
Don't wake that one, my docent said
It is relentless
I smiled and thanked him for the warning
As something followed us in the shadows

See the World
We step into the air
Do the rumba in Spain
Have a peach in the morning
Then board a plane
See the pillars of Rome
In the afternoon
The wine in France
Makes our hearts swoon
It might be a dream
I hope it comes true
This is what I see
When I think about you
Palm trees wave
A bright blue sea
Snorkel a reef
Dry in the breeze
Counting bricks on a walk
Through the streets of Prague
Stand on a mountain
A duet on a stage
Call it a dream
I hope it comes true
The things I see
When I think about you
Deep green fields
Along an Irish shore
A dressy hat
We all adore
Lunch in a tower
An awesome view
Made better still
When I look at you
It might be a dream
But it's not a lie
I can see the world
In your fun filled eyes

You Know
Nobody knows me like you do
You really know my inner fool
When I think something's funny
You are laughing too
Cuz
Nobody knows me like you do
Nobody knows me like you do
We both believe in the same rules
When I dare defy them
You are right there too
Since
Nobody knows me like you do
Nobody knows me like you do
Even when I'm acting cool
Everything I'm thinking
You are thinking too
Well
Nobody knows me like you do
Nobody knows me like you do
A bond that's strong as super glue
If it ever changed
The world would break in two
Yes
Nobody knows me like you do

A Smile
They all stood and stared
When I fell
What they didn't expect
Was my smile
Tough men raged at me
But paused
At my calm demeanor
And a smile
To those who reject me
With smug looks
I steal their satisfaction
With a smile
When I love someone
She knows it
Nothing can hold back
My smile

When Goodbye is Not a Cure
What do you do when goodbye is not a cure
Thoughts and words bring anxiety
One can only care and not forget
And be silent
To give room for love
Remember what silence says;
An anxious heart wants to hide
Passion shouldn't be suppressed
Toward all who hope to enjoy
The uninhibited joy of who you are
Your heart feels better showing it
And that heart
Yes that heart
Is what I care about
Rhythm
Breathe in
breathe out
belief
And doubt
risk
And fear
Talk
And hear
Breathe in,
breathe out
Smile
And pout
Rage
And love
Pull
And shove
Breathe in
breath out
The rhythm of life

The Journey
Life starts us on a journey
With a sachet full of dreams
We give them out like candy
A happy song to sing
Will anyone embrace them?
With love the priceless gift
In hope our arms extended
We are all alike in this
Some dreams are laid aside
And time can be a thief
He takes his pay in toil
To shatter our belief
But oh, the love collected
Each moment it is found
Lives within our hearts
The memories keep us bound

More than a View
Sometimes rather than viewing sunrises,
I like to feel them
With my eyes closed there's this certain glow that can be felt
When my mind has been racing in the darkness
It is a feeling of hope and a new start
Second guessing and thoughts of the past
are tapped on the shoulder and told to move along
The birds and starting cars remind me
others are doing the same
There is a certain sadness that my thoughts must close
so my focus can turn to the new day at hand
It can bring excitement if I let it
And I think I will

The West Wind
We set out to sea to forget
Try to get used to the calm
The sun will share its solice
Introducing itself at the dawn
The waves begin rolling
The west wind blowing
Thunder lights up the sky
When a heart begins knowing
The treasure we're holding
We never say goodby
Hold on to the peaceful moments
Cling to the thoughts that bring joy
There's plenty of good to express
And plenty of hurt to avoid
The waves begin rolling
The west wind blowing
Thunder lights up the sky
When a heart begins knowing
The treasure we're holding
We never say goodby

Raised by the Trees
A beautiful sunrise
Through tree branches
Dewdrops refract them
A light show has begun
For a chorus of songbirds
With a myriad of perches
On friendly oak fingers
Young oak leaves
Applaude summer breezes
They then exit the stage
And give aroma to fall air
Trees willingly exposed
Showing their true selves
With dignity and strength
Standing and swaying
While the cruel elements swirl
Withholding accolades
Until the spring rains
Over beaches and prairies
My feet love to travel
Yet open spaces become lonley
Since I was raised by the trees

Thankfulness
Thankfulness
Wash over me
Cleanse this needy soul
Ambitions
Leave success in the cold
Time
tells me I am old
As the present
Vies for attention
You never disappoint

No Doubt
Don't stir the embers
But the fire will burn
Put your mind at ease
Yet the wheel still turn
Keep that heart in check
Don't let it yearn
Your feelings get numb
As you're trying to learn
We admire the stars
And give them a wish
When starting new days
Can an old life exist?
We pursue what brings joy
The intention is bliss
At the end of each day
Something is missed
We love certain ones
Who help our heart out
It may not seem wise
But they take away doubt
Connecting with them
Is what life is about

Your Name
I hope you don't mind
If I borrow your name
Without your sweet face
Nothing's the same
But I can whisper it softly
When my heart is in pain
I hope you don't mind
If I borrow your name
When I sit on a bench
And watch the sun rise
I can dream how the colors
Play in your eyes
Of all the great words
I can exclaim
None bring more joy
Than the sound of your name
When life becomes hard
My mind goes insane
It gives me a calm
I cannot explain
When all seems a loss
Our love will remain
I hope you don't mind
If I borrow your name

Sunbeam
In the morning light
To a smile I woke
A playful sunbeam
And she whispered spring
My skin felt warm
On the place she danced
She then kissed my cheek
And I saw the beach
This delightful touch
Made my senses swoon
In a summer breeze
And we both were pleased

A Ray of Light
When rays of light shine around the edges
I want to crash the door
Then I step back embarrassed at the damage
My foolish passions wreck
But I do learn from my mistakes
Albeit slowly
Every bright ray should be savored for what it represents
A diamond needs but a small portion of light to be beautiful.

The Promise
The fear we sometimes get
Is someone might forget
Let's settle it right now
And make this simple vow
I promise you one thing
Within my memories
You will always live
If it's all that we can give
So I leave this song for you
It has a special tune
Just hum it to yourself
When you're feeling overwhelmed
The greatest gift we give
Is to let each other live
With a heart that's full of peace
Enjoy the gentle breeze
I'm reminded constantly
By the birds when they sing
And the stars the way they shine
You and I are fine

A few words
Many of these poems are actually lyrics. I don't just get words when inspired but also get music. So recently I have applied time to music theory to better figure these things out. It is awesome to express what I hear. I have been making use of my piano too. Some is being written to sheet music to preserve what comes out. With recording programs and everything involved, it is a lot of fun but takes up a ton of time, and is very slow since I am an amateur.
Lately I have been listening to Americana ballads. I change genres all the time. Sometimes my poems reflect it. I also have dozens of incomplete ones I keep to myself. So don't think I am neglecting this blog if I take a little time between... Life is good.
The plan is to eventually publish a few songs for the fun of it. The process is a long one from start to finish. I already have poems in book form and should add a few more to publish them too.
The Expert
You ask how to forget someone
So if you'd like to hear
Just pull up that old chair
And pour yourself a beer
You can say that I'm an expert
I can help if you are green
There's a lot of ground to cover
If you want change your scene
Some say to use your humor
You can call it all a joke
A person only laughs so long
Till the tears begin to choke
You could fill your time with projects
A mind needs occupied
But watch those little pauses
When your thoughts begin to slide
Maybe travel to earths corners
Distance is the key
Fill your sight with newness
Try to erase the memories
Mornings can be the toughest
Especially when you dream
Just rise a little early
Threre are always things to clean
The list goes on forever
There's not a single answer here
So let's enjoy a small reprieve
While we sit and drink our beer

Aware
Should I write a doleful song?
Are conclusions all forgone? My soul was made aware
As our time was fondly shared
I've found someone who knows
How I look with heart exposed
So when your heart is sad
The good seems less than bad
Look at what you've given me
And I will hold on patiently
Let good thoughts become yours
Through the trials and through the wars
And I hope in some way too
I can do the same for you

What If
Two happy souls lived at what is
On the street of whatever will be
They discovered whatever happened
Moved closer and strained to see
There they found what could have been
Yet most of the town was too old
The place called what if was much newer
But the weather soon became cold
Now they're back in their homes at whatever is
While their minds still reminisce
On the road to whatever happens
They know there's a place called what if

Difficulties
In difficulty one approach is to use humor's eyes
Though choices are tough there are still absurdities
We can choose to feel buried or with humor rise
Yet the risk with written words is that it can seem cruel
Even when the heart is far from cruelties grasp
Too many things have meanings that are dual.
But those who know each other's hearts
eventually figure it out.

Night and Day
The bright sun slipped in and out of hiding
Behind racing clouds, its movement unnoticed
Day spent, the master of time looked tired
Yet he scattered his rays making a beautiful show
Giving evening spark to romantic dreams.
In his absence the world will draw closer
Huddled together unseen yet very much alive
Using senses that remain with no need of light
A slow world of repose patiently waits for dawn
Silence fills the void as though connected to the darkness
Creation holds its breath, knowing the sun will be faithful
A flash, ever so slight excites the songbirds
The sun reaches across the sky with glowing fingers
Pulling himself upward while spilling brilliant colors.
From this start, life skips merrily on its way
His warmth and light delighting the senses
While in the distance, others wait for his glorious return

Thoughts
You cross my mind
A flash of light
Traveling through my thoughts
Every beam of light
Gives me pleasure
As they Dance with my wishes
I know you sent them
And it makes me smile
So I send thoughts to you.

Love and Hate
As a kid I saw injustice
Domestic violence
It wasn't mother's tears
But the lack of them
That caused my soul to rage
Her love was offered like a dove
He broke its neck
But the cycle was broken
Things change over time
I have to lay aside the hatred
Lest it consume me
And avoid things that remind
Lest the demand for justice
Destroyes love in everyone's lives
I also found a love for someone
That goes to the core of my being
I thought what was in my hand
Had been rejected
My soul raged because it cut so deep
But I had been misinformed
And so this love began to consume me
I had to lay it aside
While many things remind me of her
I must focus on the good
There is so much love to give others
God forbid this demand for justice
destroy love in everyone's lives
Strange how hatred and love
Can be so similar.
When things cut deep into a soul
It is impossible to forget
We can only lay it aside
for a time
Calm the raging voice
Chose to give love
And do what is best

Masterpiece
It comes as a feeling
Starting in your chest
You look at the mountains
Take a deep breath
An inspiration
grips your heart
Everything's clear
Bringing a tear
Impressing your soul
It's what we live for
We're passionate beings
Look past the illusion
What's your heart seeing?
Let the music keep playing
Let the image give awe
Rhythms are beating
We're a part of it all
This word is our gallery
We make the art
A great masterpiece
Meet the artiste
Alive in your heart.
